Caridad Rivera is a multi-ethnic capable actress born in Los Angeles who lives just across the river from the Big Apple. Caridad Rivera received a B.A in English Theater and Fine Arts Minor at New Jersey City University. She first began performing at the age of 12 at local theaters such as Veronica's Veil and the Park Theater where she landed lead roles for the Passion Play, Oklahoma, Carmila's Kiss, and the Vagina Monologues. She played the role of Madame Kholenkov in You Can't Take It With You in High school, when she realized this was something she was born to do. Since a very young age, she always had a vision for raw expression in the arts for music, dance, and theater. In 2006, Caridad studied abroad in France taking several courses on Theatre d' Absurd, in which she later played the role of Madame Martin in La Cantatrice Chauve at Theatre Ionesco.
Upon graduating she completed the feature film, Muñeca , 2006 Dir./ R.Jiles/M.Lopez which later was performed on stage, in 2010. After College she went on to work as a professional Belly dancer and performance artist, starting her own body painting collective theater troupe, called Living a Painting, Living a Painting is a melange of surrealistic theater, body art and fire play. Here she harvested all her experiences in theater dance, music and travel into performance, executing her own projects, choreography, and direction. Caridad continued to study various forms of dance and music, acting however was forever present and soon became her focus.
In 2015 has been a great year for Caridad. She landed role as a piano player for the Jazz activist film Enough is Enough NY, written and produced by Sohrab Sadaat, which will screen late August in NYC. She is currently completing her studies at Anthony Bova Studios at Ionica Theater in Manhattan. She is also working on finishing a film she wrote, directed, and acted in titled Rise. Ever ambitious, creative, and passionate, Caridad endeavors to make her mark on the industry and inspire others through her expression.
